Satlyt and The Aerospace Corporation Partner to Advance Edge Computing in Space
Satlyt has officially partnered with The Aerospace Corporation to integrate its edge-computing framework with the NASA-backed DiskSat platform, marking a major step toward enabling real-time autonomy and Virtual AI Data Centers in orbit.
Sunnyvale, CA — January 2026
Satlyt Inc., a technology company developing edge computing and autonomy infrastructure for spacecraft, announced that it has entered into a commercial license agreement with The Aerospace Corporation, a leader in advancing national space capabilities, for the use of its DiskSat technology.
DiskSat, developed by The Aerospace Corporation, is a lightweight, compact, disc-shaped satellite designed to optimize future rideshare launches. Its unconventional shape enables new possibilities for cost-effective and rapid constellation deployment, improved packing efficiency, and balanced mass distribution. Following a successful launch last month, four DiskSats are now in orbit, beginning mission demonstrations that showcase the potential of this innovative satellite form factor.
It has always been our plan for DiskSat to be transitioned to industry as quickly as possible,” said Deb Salvaggio, Aerospace’s Director of Technology Transfer. “We are excited to work with Satlyt as a valued partner.
Under the new license, Satlyt will integrate its onboard computing framework using DiskSat’s architecture to explore applications in autonomous operations, in-orbit data processing, and distributed satellite coordination. The effort aligns with Aerospace’s goal of advancing small satellite capabilities for both government and commercial use.
This collaboration represents a step toward enabling true autonomy in space,” said Rama Afullo, Founder and CEO of Satlyt. “DiskSat provides the kind of power and scalability that makes real-time computing in orbit possible.
The agreement establishes Satlyt as one of the first commercial companies to work with DiskSat technology. Both teams will continue exploring opportunities for testing and technology validation throughout 2026.
